Friends of the Library
The Friends began March 7, 1995. It became 501(c)3 tax-exempt shortly after.
The Friends assist Neuschafer Community Library in meeting the public needs through volunteer work. We provide funds for items not budgeted. We provide a tax-exempt avenue to accept donations from library supporters.
Membership is yearly or lifetime. Membership drives are done in June. The drive begins at the Used Book Sale the second Sunday in June. Membership is by donation. The membership levels are: Individual...$5. Family...$25. Patron...$100. Lifetime...$1000. Lifetime memberships are available in one payment or five $200 consecutive yearly payments.
The Friends yearly Book Sale is second Sunday in June starting at 9:00 am (held in the Village Hall Council room). It is held in conjunction with the Legion Chicken Barbecue, the Hope Church Pie and Ice Cream Social and the Legion Auxiliary Bake Sale. Friends also participates in the big library fundraiser that is held the Saturday before Thanksgiving. They hold a silent auction, bake sale, and help create baskets that are sold.
The library can always use extra hands. Some Friends duties include: dusting, cleaning carpets and upholstery, covering books, sorting and straightening books, providing treats for special programs, helping at special programs.
Donations are welcome at any time of the year. They can be dropped off at the Library or given to any board member. Donations of books are to go to the library. Special arrangements can be made to pick up books at your home. We are 501(c)3, so we are eligible for matching grants. We also have an account at the Community Foundation that will accept donations for us. You can give anonymously at Community Foundation.
