The Friends began March 7, 1995. It became 501(c)3 tax-exempt shortly after.

Mission

The Friends assist Neuschafer Community Library in meeting the public needs through volunteer work. We provide funds for projects and items not budgeted. We provide a tax-exempt avenue to accept donations from library supporters.

Membership

Membership is yearly or lifetime. All Lifetime Memberships are acknowledged on the Friends of Neuschafer Library Lifetime Member plaque. Lifetime memberships are available in one $1000 payment or five $200 consecutive yearly payments.

Program Sponsorship

The friends sponsor the following library programs:

  • Lunch & Learns
  • Contributor to the 2021 library remodel
  • 2-year Junior Library Guild subscription
  • Children’s books for Read Across America event
  • Summer Reading Program
  • Wonderbooks

Volunteer Opportunities

The library can always use extra hands. Some Friends duties include: Helping to create art work for programs, delivering books to shut-ins or people who can’t make it in to the library, covering books, sorting and straightening books, providing treats  or helping for special programs.

Donations

Donations are welcome at any time of the year. They can be dropped off at the Library or given to any board member. Donations of books are to go to the library. Special arrangements can be made to pick up books at your home. We are 501(c)3, so we are eligible for matching grants. We also have an account at the Community Foundation that will accept donations for us. You can give anonymously at Community Foundation.
