Get involved, share your ideas, and help our library grow!

Friends of the NCL is an independent non-profit organization with 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Membership is free and open to all.

Our Story

The Friends of NCL came together in 1995 and the group began fundraising for two goals:

  • To enhance library services and support library programs not covered by the budget
  • To prepare for future expansion of the library space

Three decades of fundraising have brought us to a historical moment:

The Library has received a $4.25 million federal grant to build a new library and community center in Fremont. Construction must begin July 1.

Our role in the building project

To make this grant possible, Friends of NCL used private donations and investments from years of fundraising efforts to obtain and prepare the construction site and preliminary architect plans. These steps were part of the grant application process.

Our goal for the project

The intent of Friends of NCL is to help create library space to meet community needs and preserve it for future generations, without cost to taxpayers. This is the opportunity we have been working toward for many years.

Our Mission

We strive to enrich our library’s mission through dedicated fundraising and community engagement, fostering a partnership with donors to support relevant and inclusive services to our community beyond what government funding provides.

Our Vision

To make an outsized impact on our local community, we are committed to working together toward a shared goal of lifelong learning, ensuring our library is a vibrant and accessible hub for education, inspiration, and connection for all.

Fundraising

Friends of NCL have been raising funds for over 20 years:

  • Frolic in Fremont basket sale, bake sale, and craft show
  • Book sale
  • Private donations and investments

Programs

Friends of NCL provide volunteer and financial support for programs outside the library budget:

  • Summer Reading Program
  • Lunch & Learn
  • Wonder Books
  • Childrens’ Book Donations for Read Across America
  • Junior Library Guild subscription

Our goal is to expand library services and ensure equal access for everyone, while partnering with the library staff to create programs for all age groups.

Planning for the Future

In October 2024, the library received a federal grant to build a new library and community center. Construction will be completed by September 2026.

Our hope is to create a community hub for the surrounding area that will foster education, wellness, and creativity for many decades to come.

We need your help to make the new space functional and inspiring! Help the Friends of NCL raise funds to purchase equipment and amenities for the new building.

Kemper Scholarship

The Bob Kemper Scholarship Fund is administered by the Friends of the Neuschafer Community Library. The yearly scholarship is awarded to Fremont area graduates of Weyauwega-Fremont High School who choose to continue their education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
